ORDINANCE NO. 190142

 

Accepting the recommendations of the Tax Increment Financing Commission as to the termination of the Southtown Urban Life Development Tax Increment Financing Plan; terminating the Southtown Urban Life Development Tax Increment Financing Plan and Redevelopment Area; and directing the City Clerk to transmit copies of this ordinance.

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to the Real Property Tax Increment Allocation Redevelopment Act, Sections 99.800 to 99.865 of the Revised Statues of Missouri, as amended, (the “Act”), the City Council created the Tax Increment Financing Commission of Kansas City, Missouri (the “Commission”); and

 

WHEREAS, the Council, by the passage of Ordinance No. 080923 on September 25, 2008, approved the Southtown Urban Life Development Tax Increment Financing Plan (the “Plan”) and designated an area described by the Plan as a redevelopment area (the “Redevelopment Area”); and

 

WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Area is generally bounded by 59th Street on the north, Prospect Avenue on the east, 63rd Street on the south, and Olive and Park Streets on the west in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, the 10-year period for the approval of redevelopment projects and tax increment allocation financing has expired, no ordinances to approve tax increment allocation financing were approved, and the ordinances introduced to authorize tax increment financing were released by the City Council on December 12, 2016; and

 

WHEREAS, on January 9, 2019, the Commission recommended termination of the Southtown Urban Life Development TIF Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the recommendations of the Commission concerning the termination of the Southtown Urban Life Development Tax Increment Financing Plan are hereby accepted and the Southtown Urban Life Development Tax Increment Financing Plan and Redevelopment Area are hereby terminated.

 

Section 2. That the City Clerk shall send a copy of this ordinance to the County Clerk and County Executive of Jackson County, Missouri.
