Authorizing a one year agreement with BFI Waste Systems of North America, Inc., for dumpster and disposal services with a one-year renewal option and authorizing the Director of Environmental Management to expend $87,000.00 for the first three months of the agreement.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Director of Environmental Management is hereby authorized, on behalf of the City, to execute a one year agreement with BFI Waste Systems of North America, Inc., establishing rates for dumpster and disposal services to be provided during the period February 1, 1999 to January 31, 2000, with an option to renew for one additional year. The agreement shall be essentially in the form which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.

Section 2. That the Director of Environmental Management is hereby authorized to expend an amount not to exceed $87,000.00 for the first three months of the agreement from funds appropriated in the 1998-99 Budget in the following accounts for this purpose:

99-100-085-1100-B Project Clean Sweep $50,000.00

99-100-085-2302-B Leaves & Brush 30,000.00

99-100-085-2307-B Neighborhood Dumpster Program 7,000.00

TOTAL $87,000.00

Section 3. That the Director of Environmental Management described in Section 2 is hereby authorized to issue changes to the aforesaid contract to provide for additional disposal requirements subject to the limitations of appropriated funds and the City Managers approval.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
