ORDINANCE NO. 100340

 

Authorizing the Director of Health to enter into contracts with area health centers, Children's Mercy Hospital, and Truman Medical Center to provide primary health care services for indigent residents in Kansas City, Missouri; and declaring an emergency.

 

WHEREAS, this ordinance authorizes contracts with various health centers to provide primary health care for indigent residents; and

 

WHEREAS, this ordinance should be declared an emergency measure within the provisions of Section 503(a)(2) of the City Charter in that it relates to the immediate preservation of the public health and is necessary to prevent a gap in services and care; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That agreements between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and Cabot Westside Clinic (Richard Cabot Club), K.C. Free Health Clinic, Northland Health Care Access, Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, Swope Parkway Health Services, Children’s Mercy Hospital and Truman Medical Center, acting through their Executive Directors, whereby these agencies will provide primary care for the City's indigent residents for the period of May 1, 2010 through April 30, 2011, to be paid from funds previously appropriated to the Health Levy accounts listed below, are hereby accepted and approved. Copies of these agreements, in substantial form, are attached and made a part hereof by reference.

11-2330-512136-F Cabot Westside Clinic (Richard Cabot Club) 474,442.00

11-2330-512139-F Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center 1,230,716.00

11-2330-512137-F Swope Parkway Health Center 1,150,228.00

11-2330-512120-F Children’s Mercy Hospital 1,122,629.00

11-2330-512150-F Truman Medical Center 24,710,875.00

TOTAL $29,418,908.00

 

Section 2. That this ordinance is declared an emergency measure within the provisions of Section 503(a)(2) of the City Charter in that it relates to the immediate preservation of the public health, and shall take effect in accordance with that section.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
