Honoring Vincent P. McInerney on his retirement from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.
WHEREAS, in December, 1978, Vincent P. McInerney joined the police academy and in April, 1979, became a police officer at the Central Patrol Division; and
WHEREAS, Major McInerney was promoted to Detective in January 1984, to Sergeant in June 1986, to Captain in September 1988, and finally to Major in April 1996; and
WHEREAS, over the years, Major McInerney has been awarded the Meritorious Service Award, two Special Unit Citation Awards and a Certificate of Commendation; and
WHEREAS, Major McInerney serves as one of six national focus group chairpersons working with the FBI in developing a new federal, state and local information sharing system to assist in criminal investigations and homeland security as well as serving as Vice Chairman/Secretary of the Police Credit Union Board of Directors and serving as the Police Departments liaison with the Missouri Special Olympics; and
WHEREAS, Major McInerney is retiring after 26 years as a member of the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council honor and commend Major Vincent P. McInerney on his retirement from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Vincent P. McInerney with the best wishes of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for a long and happy retirement.
