Honoring Charlie Staples on the occasion of his
retirement.

WHEREAS, Mr. Charlie Staples has announced his
retirement from the City of Kansas City on December 31, 1990; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Staples has served in various
capacities with the Public Works Department with his entire career of 35 years
of service with the City devoted to the field of engineering inspection; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Staples has contributed to numerous important
construction projects which include such major projects as the Barry Road
Bridge over Shoal Creek, the Chestnut Viaduct, N.E. 48th Street, and most
recently, the Englewood Road project; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Staples, in his most recent inspection
of the Englewood Road project, demonstrated his enthusiasm towards his work by
consistently going the extra mile to produce a roadway of extreme good quality;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Staples also displayed his genuine
interest in the citizens of Kansas City, and particularly these along Englewood
Road, by displaying the utmost professionalism and courtesy to all in
completing the project with the minimum of inconvenience; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby express their
sincere appreciation, and that of the people of Kansas City to Mr. Charlie
Staples on the eve of his retirement, for his long years of dedicated service
to the people and government of Kansas City in performing a vital service for
said government and governed; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be
spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that a copy
hereof be presented to Mr. Staples in token of the hearty best wishes of the
Mayor and Council for a continuation, in his retirement years, of excellent
health, and of the enormous satisfaction emanated from outstanding services
rendered to his fellow citizens.
