RESOLUTION NO. 001639

 

Directing the City Manager to investigate the financial feasibility of a skating rink in the Brush Creek Corridor.

 

WHEREAS, the Citys Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners in Resolution No. 24884 resolved that development of a two surface ice skating rink through a public/private partnership was in the best interests of the Citys residents; and

 

WHEREAS, the Board has determined that the appropriate location for this skating rink is in Martin Luther King Park, which is in the Brush Creek Corridor on Woodland Avenue; and

 

WHEREAS, the Boards stated goal is to encourage the growth of the sport of ice skating as a recreational activity within the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, determining the financial feasibility of the project and the appropriate financing method is a vital component of the ongoing work on the project; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section A. That the City Manager is hereby directed to investigate the financial feasibility of this project and available financing methods and report back to the Council within forty-five (45) days.
