RESOLUTION NO. 200979

 

Amending the Swope Area Plan for an approximately 0.65 acre tract of land located at 5005 Swope Parkway by changing the recommended land use from medium-high residential to commercial. (CD-CPC-2020-00139)

 

WHEREAS, on August 15, 2017, the City Council by Resolution No. 140770 adopted the Swope Area Plan being the plan for development and redevelopment for that area generally bounded by Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard on the north, the Blue River on the east, the Trolley Track Trail on the south and Troost Avenue/The Paseo on the west; and

  

WHEREAS, after further review, it has been deemed appropriate to amend the Swope Area Plan and Map as it affects that area of approximately 0.65 acre generally located at 5005 Swope Parkway by changing the recommended land use from medium-high residential to commercial; and

 

WHEREAS, after all interested persons were given an opportunity to present testimony, the City Plan Commission did on October 6, 2020, recommend denial of the proposed amendment to the Swope Area Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section A. That the Swope Area Plan is hereby amended by changing the recommended land use on approximately 0.65 acre located at 5005 Swope Parkway by changing the future land use from medium-high residential to commercial and specifically described as follows:

 

5005 Swope Pky/Fire Station No. 35 Boulevard Heights Lots 74 thru 78.

 

A copy of the amendment to the Swope Area Plan is attached hereto as Exhibit A and is incorporated herein by reference.

 

Section B. That the amendment to the Swope Area Plan is consistent and complies with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan adopted on October 30, 1997, by Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 971268, and is adopted as a supplement to the FOCUS Kansas City Plan.

 

Section C. That the Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed area plan amendment hereinabove, all public notices have been given and hearings have been held as required by law.
