RESOLUTION NO. 970154

 

Encouraging the General Services Administration of the United States and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to locate its regional offices in Kansas City, Missouri, and directing the City Manager to assist developers of Kansas City, Missouri sites.

 

WHEREAS, the General Services Administration is in the process of selecting locations for a Department of Agriculture facility in the metropolitan Kansas City area; and

 

WHEREAS, this facility will employ 1,800 persons from the Kansas City area and provide a centralized office site of 350,000 square feet; and

 

WHEREAS, there have been five sites proposed from the Kansas City, Missouri, area and the City Council desires to make every effort to assure that these proposals are competitive with other offers received by the General Services Administration; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Council encourages the General Services Administration of the United States and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to locate its regional offices in Kansas City, Missouri and, in furtherance thereof, the City Manager is directed to identify and cooperate with developers of Kansas City sites to assure that their proposals reflect the level of assistance necessary to attract and retain the Department of Agriculture in Kansas City, Missouri, including but not limited to appropriate incentives and services to assure the selection of a site in Kansas City, Missouri.
