RESOLUTION NO. 070419

 

Recognizing the second anniversary of Our Health Matters.

 

WHEREAS, Ruth Ramsey launched the magazine Our Health Matters in 2005. This free publication is designed to inform a racially and ethnically diverse population about health care issues with news and information relevant to the needs of the readers; and

 

WHEREAS, the magazine publishes informative articles on such topics as diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease, asthma, depression and a number of other problems people might face in the course of their lifetimes; and

 

WHEREAS, the publication is distributed throughout the metropolitan area on a bi-monthly basis, and is found in libraries, restaurants, drug stores, social service agencies, community centers, doctors offices, and on college campuses; and

 

WHEREAS, Our Health Matters lists public health centers and safety net providers, and promotes opportunities in the medical and healthcare professions as well as community events in addition to providing important information about disease and wellness; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate publisher Ruth Ramsey on the second anniversary of the publication Our Health Matters; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLEVD that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Ruth Ramsey.
