RESOLUTION NO. 100402

 

Honoring Larry Frevert on his selection as an APWA Top Ten Public Works Leader of 2010.

 

WHEREAS, the American Public Works Association (APWA) has recently named Larry Frevert a Top Ten Public Works Leader of the Year for 2010 honoring his career service accomplishments in the field of public works with the highest standards of professional conduct; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Frevert’s career exemplifies professionalism as evidenced by his participation in APWA as the National President in 2007-08 and as a member of the Board of Directors for seven years. He is a Past President of the KC Metro Chapter and served as the Vice Chair of the 2002 National Congress. Mr. Frevert is a past President of the Engineers Club of Kansas City and currently serves as President of the MU Engineering Alumni Board and on the Dean’s Advisory Council for MU; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Frevert’s 40 year career includes 17 years at the Missouri Department of Transportation and 19 years with the City of Kansas City in the Public Works and Parks Departments. In 2006, Mr. Frevert became the Vice President/National Program Director of Public Works for HDR Engineering, Inc. where he has company-wide responsibility for business development with local governments; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Frevert’s accomplishments as a City employee include constructing covered salt storage facilities at the City’s maintenance sites, leading levee reinforcement efforts during the 1993 floods, constructing the new Chouteau Bridge, upgrading Kansas City’s streetlight system and significant involvement in the negotiations of the Bruce Watkins Roadway design criteria; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Frevert and his wife, Carol, have been married for 39 years; are the devoted parents of four grown children, six grandchildren, with one more grandchild due in October of this year; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Frevert’s accomplishments and APWA Top Ten selection has brought great distinction not only to himself and HDR Engineering, Inc., but to the entire Kansas City region; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council of Kansas City do hereby congratulate Mr. Frevert on his selection as an APWA Top Ten Public Works Leader of the Year and add their recognition to Mr. Frevert for his distinguished service to our community, and our City government in previous employment; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and a copy hereof be presented to Mr. Frevert in token of the Mayor and Council’s respect for Mr. Frevert’s accomplishments and appreciation for his past service to the City.
