Honoring Irvin Agron, the oldest active holder of a real estate license in Missouri, on the occasion of his 94th birthday.

WHEREAS, on Friday, October 5, 1990, Irvin Agron, a real estate broker with Block & Co., Inc., and the oldest active holder of a real estate license in the State of Missouri, will celebrate his 94th birthday; and

WHEREAS, Irvin, the second of seven children, emigrated to St. Joseph from Russia with his family at the age of nine. As a newcomer to that city he immediately landed a job selling newspapers. He served in the United States Army during World War I, spending nine months in France. Upon his return he met and married his wife Frances and began a business career that has spanned seven decades and involved him in various industries; and

WHEREAS, for a year he sold tents in Texas and then bought and operated a ready-to-wear business there. Three years later he sold out and moved back to the Kansas City area to become a salesman in a meat packing plant. In 1935 he formed his own company, the Kansas City Dressed Beef Co. in Kansas City, Kansas. He sold that business in 1964 and retired...for two weeks; and

WHEREAS, at the age of 69, Irvin Agron took and passed his Missouri real estate license test, obtained his credentials and became a broker with Block & Co., Inc. where he still works today; and

WHEREAS, Irvin serves as another excellent example of the valuable contributions made to this city by its many talented and experienced senior citizens; contributions that have helped to make Kansas City a metropolitan leader; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor and offer their heartiest congratulations to Irvin Agron on the occasion of his 94th birthday; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to him in token of the best wishes of the Mayor and Council for a most enjoyable birthday celebration and of their wishes for many more in the years ahead and for many more productive years in the real estate business.
