RESOLUTION NO. 070473

 

Recognizing the 100th anniversary of the Centennial United Methodist Church.

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council recognize the 100th anniversary of the Centennial United Methodist Church; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City has previously recognized the importance of the church at 1834 Woodland Avenue by designating it to the Kansas City Register of Historic Places on July 24, 1980 as part of the 18th & Vine Historic District; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council further recognize the historic and architectural significance of this historic church built in 1927-29 and designed by Leon Grant Middaugh; and

 

WHEREAS; the Mayor and Council also expresses its appreciation to the congregation for their stewardship of this historic building; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the 100th anniversary of the Centennial United Methodist Church; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the United Methodist Centennial Church with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council to the congregation for its excellent stewardship.
