RESOLUTION NO. 100084

 

Expressing the support of the Mayor and City Council for a 99-year lease between the City or a city redevelopment agency and the General Services Administration for Block 100 in the East Village Redevelopment Area.

 

WHEREAS, the Council in Resolution No. 091012 expressed its support for the development of a new General Services Administration (hereinafter “GSA”) office building in the general area of the East Village Redevelopment; and

 

WHEREAS, the City has acquired Block 100, bounded by 11th, 12th, Cherry, and Charlotte Streets, as part of its obligations in the J. E. Dunn Project and is currently completing demolition activities to prepare the block for redevelopment; and

 

WHEREAS, the City desires to make Block 100 available to the GSA for the development of its new administrative headquarters building at a cost and under such terms as would be acceptable to the GSA; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and City Council support the development of a 99-year lease between the City (or an appropriate city redevelopment agency) and the GSA for Block 100 at a lease rate of $1.00 per year, subject to the GSA proceeding in a timely manner to develop its new administrative headquarters building on the site.
