RESOLUTION NO. 180291
Recognizing Oak Park High School
as a 2018 Model School.
WHEREAS, Oak Park High School has been selected as a Model School
for 2018 by the International Center for Leadership in Education, whose mission
is to challenge, inspire and equip today’s educators to prepare students for
lifelong success; and
WHEREAS, only 25
schools and districts per year are chosen as Model Schools; and
WHEREAS, Oak
Park will share best practices at the 26th Annual Model Schools Conference, June
24-27 in Orlando, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the
Model Schools Conference is the nation’s premier event for rapidly improving
K-12 schools and districts; and
WHEREAS, Model
Schools are selected annually based on a number of criteria including
substantive, data-validated growth year over year, evidence of a strong culture
that puts students at the center of learning, and dedication to transforming
instruction to meet the needs and demands of the future; and
WHEREAS, the
International Center for Leadership in Education, established in 1991 and
located in Rexford, New York, is one of the most influential education
consulting companies in America and is best known for identifying and
disseminating successful practices to assist all students in achieving higher standards;
NOW, THEREFORE;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and
Council hereby recognize Oak Park High School as a 2018 Model School; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Christopher Sartain,
Principal for Oak Park, with the Mayor and Council congratulating Oak Park for being
an outstanding school model.
