RESOLUTION NO. 951282

 

Recognizing the 50th Anniversary of Boy Scouts of America Troop 62, founded October 1945, Boone School, 89th Street & Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri .

 

WHEREAS, Robert D. Palmer (1945-1948), Frank B. Patterson (1948-1951), James I. Lanoue (1951-1961), Albert E. Smith (1961-1970), James O. Donovan (1970-1973), David Smalley (1973-1974), James Howk (1974-1978), Lyle Potter (1978-1979), Gary Davisson (1980-1983), Terry Noel (1983-1984), Gary Smith (1984-1989), Robert Soldi (1989-1991), and Richard J. Weiland (1991-Present) have served the youth of Kansas City, Missouri for 50 years, building the character of hundreds of young men; and

 

WHEREAS, together these outstanding individuals have taught, and mentored more than 200 Eagle Scouts within Troop 62; and

 

WHEREAS, a Boy Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, charitable, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent; and

 

WHEREAS, the Boy Scout motto is "Be Prepared"; and

 

WHEREAS, the Boy Scout oath is to "Do my best to do my duty to God and my Country, to help other people at all times to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight"; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize Boy Scouts of America Troop 62 and its Scoutmasters that have been the mentors of the many young men that were so fortunate to be members of Troop 62; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Boy Scouts of America Troop 62 in appreciation of the Mayor, Council for the services and leadership they have provided to the community and citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.
