RESOLUTION NO. 140537

 

Honoring Jana Sperry on being the recipient of the Seth Slocum Award and Vic Terranella and Timothy G. Meadows on being recipients of Labor’s Educational and Political Club Independent (LEPCI) Labor Representative of the Year Award.

 

WHEREAS, Jana Sperry is a 25-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1613, and during this time Jana has served as an Executive Board Member and Union Steward and is currently the President of Local 1613 which represents employees at Kansas City Power & Light Company and Edison Credit Union; and

 

WHEREAS, Vic Terranella was elected President of Teamsters Local 41 in 2008, taking office on January 1, 2009. He was reelected in 2011 and remains in that position today. Since becoming President of Local 41, Vic has been involved with local and state politics and has lobbied monthly during legislative sessions in Jefferson City on issues important to working families. In February 2014, Vic was appointed to serve as a Board Member of Working Families Friend; and

 

WHEREAS, Timothy G. Meadows is Vice President of Teamsters Local 600 and was elected to the Missouri General Assembly as a State Representative from the 101st District in 2004 and reelected in 2006, 2008 and 2010 where he served on numerous important committees and was instrumental in protecting the interests of organized labor and working men and women; and

 

WHEREAS, Jana Sperry, Vic Terranella and Timothy G. Meadows have always fought for working families through their decades of union leadership and their involvement in government and politics; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Jana Sperry on being the recipient of the Seth Slocum Award and Vic Terranella and Timothy G. Meadows on being the recipients of the LEPCI Labor Representative of the Year Award; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Jana Sperry, Vic Terranella and Timothy G. Meadows in token of the high esteem with which the Mayor and Council hold them and with their best wishes for many more years of successful service to working families.
