ORDINANCE NO. 960074

 

Amending Chapter 56, Code of Ordinances of Kansas City, Missouri, commonly referred to as the Property Maintenance Code, by repealing Section 56-545 and adopting in lieu thereof one new section which establishes a new penalty provision for persons convicted of violating the dangerous buildings article of Chapter 56.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That Chapter 56, Code of Ordinances of Kansas City, Missouri, commonly referred to as the Property Maintenance Code, is hereby amended by repealing Section 56-545 and enacting one new section to read as follows:

 

Sec. 56-545. Penalties.

 

(a) Any person convicted of a violation of this article shall be punished for that violation by a fine of not less than $200.00, but not more than $1,000.00, or by imprisonment of not more than 180 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

 

(b) Every day that a violation continues shall be considered a separate offense, for which the violator may be arrested, tried and convicted without necessity of further notice.
