RESOLUTION NO. 001686

 

Honoring James L. Moellers 12 years of service to the Kansas City Public Library Board of Trustees.

 

WHEREAS, James L. Moeller has provided 12 years of outstanding service as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Kansas City Public Library and was one of the original Library Board members appointed when the Urban Public Library District was established in 1988; and

 

WHEREAS, James L. Moeller has faithfully served as President of the Board of Trustees, 1994, 1995, and 1999 and served in the capacity of Vice President in 1992 and 1993; and

 

WHEREAS, James L. Moeller during his term on the Board actively encouraged the establishment of an Endowment Fund in 1990, played an integral part of moving the Library forward in all aspects of technology, advocated completion of the branch redevelopment plan with the construction of the Southeast Branch, establishing Sugar Creek, renovating Westport and building a permanent branch on the westside, energized and encouraged the successful passage of a levy in 1996 and was in favor of the historic decision to relocate the Main Library to the former Nations Bank Building at 10th and Baltimore; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate James L. Moeller for his 12 years of service as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Kansas City Public Library; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to James L. Moeller in token of the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for a job well done and their best wishes as he embarks on new challenges.
