RESOLUTION NO. 180054

 

Commemorating the KCMO Employee and Veterans Education Fair sponsored by Grantham University on January 23, 2018.

 

WHEREAS, Grantham University was founded in 1951 by Donald Grantham, a World War II veteran. Grantham University has been headquartered in the greater Kansas City area since 2005; and

WHEREAS, Grantham University supports the Kansas City community by partnering in events, such as the KCMO Employee Education Fair on January 23, 2018, as well as other local education and career fairs, career services, scholarship opportunities, sponsorships, volunteerism, donation drives and community grants to area charitable organizations; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City has a significant interest in advancing the education of its employees, veterans, and Kansas Citians as a whole, in order to create and sustain an educated workforce to meet the diverse needs of area employers; and

 

WHEREAS, the KCMO Employee Education Fair enabled employees to meet with multiple colleges, universities, veteran’s benefit specialists, and financial aide representatives to discuss affordable, career-relevant degree and certificate programs; and

 

WHEREAS, Grantham University’s commitment to enabling lifelong learning helps create economic growth, improved quality of life, and the creation of an educated workforce that supports the sustained growth of Kansas City; and

 

WHEREAS, Grantham University is focused on providing online education to a diverse population of approximately 15,000 adults each year, inclusive of those affiliated with the U.S. Armed Forces, civil service, corporate America, and any who simply want to improve their future through higher education; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby express their gratitude to Grantham University for to the City of Kansas City, Missouri and its residents; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented Grantham University for their efforts to serve adult learners wanting to advance personally and professionally.
