RESOLUTION NO. 061192

 

Expressing support of the Home Weatherization Program and funding provided by Kansas City Power & Light Company.

 

WHEREAS, affordable energy is crucial to the well-being of Kansas City neighborhoods; and

 

WHEREAS, the Neighborhood and Community Services Departments Home Weatherization Program is a well-established and long time active partner of area utility companies, securing weatherization grant funds from Kansas City utility companies; and

 

WHEREAS, the City's Home Weatherization Program has successfully provided for the weatherization of almost 29,000 homes since the program's inception, thus helping low income Kansas Citians stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer and reducing the size of their utility bills, while also providing more paying customers to utility companies by helping to reduce bad debt; and

 

WHEREAS, by direction of the City Council expressed in Resolution No. 050520 the City entered into a Stipulation and Agreement filed by Kansas City Power and Light Company in Missouri Public Service Commission, Case No. EO-2005-0329, filed with the Missouri Public Service Commission on June 22, 2005, along with other interested parties, including the staff of the Commission, the Missouri Office of Public Counsel as a representative of residential rate payers, and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council supports the continued efforts and partnership activities of the Neighborhood and Community Services staff in securing the maximum possible weatherization program grant funds through the Stipulation and Agreement in Public Service Commission Case No. EO-2005-0329 entered into by, among other parties, the City with Kansas City Power & Light Company.
