RESOLUTION NO. 950108

 

Directing the City Manager to explore alternatives and requirements for recycling and reuse of demolition debris and report to Council.

 

WHEREAS, there currently exist within the city limits of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, several demolition debris landfills; and

 

WHEREAS, demolition debris may be recycled and reused rather than placed in landfills; and

 

WHEREAS, this Council has adopted a policy of encouraging recycling and reuse of all materials which are appropriate to recycle and reuse so as to protect the environment; and

 

WHEREAS, the placing of demolition debris in landfills directly conflicts with the current policy of encouraging citizens and businesses to recycle and reuse; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the City Manager is hereby directed to work with the Environmental Management and Waste Minimization Commission to explore alternatives and requirements for the recycling and reuse of demolition debris and shall make a report to Council.
