RESOLUTION NO. 980711

 

Stating the intent of the Council to provide additional funding for completion of the Mt. Cleveland Co-operative Homes housing development and directing the City Manager to identify a source for these additional funds.

 

WHEREAS, Mt. Cleveland Co-operative Homes housing development, a housing project for low to moderate income persons located at 51st Street and Cleveland Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, is expected to be developed into a 70 unit newly constructed residential complex with an expected completion date of no later than December 31, 1999, and by way of a development plan whose sponsor is the Midtown Community Development Corporation and the owner is Mt. Cleveland L.P.; and

 

WHEREAS, the development plan for the Mt. Cleveland Co-operative Homes housing development is expected to provide safe, sanitary and affordable housing for low to moderate income residents of the City; and

 

WHEREAS, the total estimated project costs of $8,245,767.00 is required to successfully complete the development plan and the success of the plan depends upon obtaining City funding of no more than $732,500.00 of CDBG funds and $1,400,000.00 of PIAC and Use Tax funds; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Council hereby states its intent to provide additional funds not to exceed the amount of $500,000.00, in addition to the $900,000.00 of PIAC and Use Tax funds and $732,500.00 in CDBG funds already committed, in order to complete the Mt. Cleveland Co-operative Homes housing development. The Council further directs the City Manager to identify a source for these additional funds.
