RESOLUTION NO. 060059
Approving an
amendment to the Columbus Park Land Use Plan, a guide for the future land use,
development, and redevelopment of the area generally bounded by the Missouri
River on the north, Interstate 35/29 on the east, Interstate 35 on the south,
and the Heart of America bridge approach (Locust Avenue) on the west.
(245-S-2).
WHEREAS, the Council adopted the Columbus Park Land Use Plan
through the passage of Resolution No. 961290 passed January 6, 1999, which Plan
established guidelines and standards for land use, future development, and
redevelopment of the area generally bounded by the Missouri River on the north,
Interstate 35/29 on the east, Interstate 35 on the south, and the Heart of
America bridge approach (Locust Avenue) on the west; and
WHEREAS, because of planning and other considerations it has
become necessary and desirable to make certain modifications to guidelines set
forth in the Columbus Park Land Use Plan and specifically those relating to
8.14 acres generally located at the northeast, southeast, and southwest corners
of Guinotte Avenue and Lydia Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the Council desires to amend the recommended land use for
the 8.14 acre area from light industry to medium density residential; and
WHEREAS, legal notice of the public hearing before the City Plan
Commission was published in conformity with state and local laws; and
WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission did hold public hearings and did
recommend approval on December 20, 2005, of the amendment to the Columbus Park
Area Plan and to the land uses, guidelines and standards contained in said
amendment; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section A. That the amendment to the Columbus Park Area Plan be
and the same is hereby adopted and approved by the City Council as a guide for
future development and redevelopment of the area described therein. A copy of
said plan is on file in the office of the City Clerk with this ordinance and
incorporated herein by reference.
Section B. That the Council finds and declares that before taking
any action on the proposed plan amendment hereinabove, all public notices and
hearings required by law have been given and had.
