COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE
FOR ORDINANCE NO. 110792
Estimating revenue in the General
Fund in the amount of $160,000.00; reducing the Contingent Appropriation in the
General Fund by $70,000.00; appropriating $230,000.00 to the Neighborhood and
Community Services Department; authorizing the Director of Neighborhood and
Community Services to execute a contract with Kansas City Pet Project for the
operation of the animal shelter; and recognizing an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF
KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That revenue in the following accounts of the
General Fund are estimated in the following amounts:
12-1000-570000-465420
Vaccinations $ 4,000.00
12-1000-570000-465330
Shelter Fees 22,000.00
12-1000-570000-465410
Animal Adoption Fees 34,000.00
12-1000-57000-455240
Pet Licenses 100,000.00
TOTAL $160,000.00
Section 2. That the appropriation in the following account
of the General Fund is reduced by the following amount:
12-1000-179990-B
Contingent Appropriation $ 70,000.00
Section 3. That
$230,000.00 is appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the General
Fund to the following account in the General Fund:
12-1000-572620-B Kennel
$230,000.00
Section 4. That
the Director of Neighborhood and Community Services is authorized to enter into
a six-month contract with Kansas City Pet Project in the amount of $410,820.00,
to be renewable at the end of the six months for one year at $1,176,231.00, for
the operation of Kansas City’s animal shelter.
Section 5. That
this ordinance is recognized as an emergency measure within the provisions of
Section 503 of the City Charter in that it appropriates money, and shall take
effect in accordance with that section.

I hereby certify that
there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation
to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance,
otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which
payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
