RESOLUTION NO. 140654

 

Approving and endorsing Commerce Tower Group, LLC, in its application to the Missouri Department of Economic Development’s Brownfields Redevelopment Program, as authorized by, and in accordance with Sections 447.700 through 447.718 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri, for state remediation tax credits for redevelopment of 911 Main St., Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, Commerce Tower Group, LLC, (“Commerce Tower”) has proposed a brownfields redevelopment project to remediate and renovate currently vacant and underutilized floors and areas within the office building property located at 911 Main St., in Jackson County, Kansas City, Missouri for use as a primary education school, university, retail space, recreational areas, greenspace, commercial office and mixed-use space; and

 

WHEREAS, Commerce Tower has applied to the Missouri Department of Economic Development for remediation tax credits pursuant to the Missouri Brownfield Redevelopment Program; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council have established a Brownfields Commission to facilitate the clean-up and redevelopment of contaminated properties within the City; and

 

WHEREAS, in a public meeting held July 29, 2014, the Brownfields Commission did resolve and recommend that the City Council endorse Commerce Tower’s application to the Missouri Department of Economic Development for remediation tax credits, subject to the condition that the property be enrolled into the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Brownfields Voluntary Cleanup Program, and that condition has now been met; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor and Council hereby endorse Commerce Tower’s application to the Missouri Department of Economic Development for remediation tax credits pursuant to the Missouri Brownfields Redevelopment Program. A copy of the application is on file with the City Development Department.

 

Section 2. That the Director of the Department of City Development is hereby authorized to execute the Local Government Endorsement form of the application of Commerce Tower Group to the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
