ORDINANCE NO. 100629
Authorizing the City Manager to
execute an agreement with Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc. for the
participation by the City in a prescription discount card program offering
discounts to Kansas City residents on prescription drugs, and committing all proceeds
of this program received by the City to the work of the healthcare system
trust.
WHEREAS, the
board of trustees of the City’s healthcare system trust has recommended the
adoption of a prescription discount program available to all residents of the
City; and
WHEREAS, the program
administered by Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc. has been recommended; and
WHEREAS, there is no
cost to any City resident for participation in this plan; and
WHEREAS, the City
will be paid a commission on every prescription filled by a City resident at
participating pharmacies; and
WHEREAS, the program
includes discounts on imaging and laboratory tests at specified places; NOW,
THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the
City Manager is authorized and directed to execute an agreement with Financial
Marketing Concepts, Inc. for participation by the City in a prescription
discount card program in a form substantially like that of Exhibit A.
Section 2. That the
City Manager is directed to set aside all funds received by the City pursuant
to this program for the exclusive use of the board of trustees of the City’s
healthcare system trust to support the obligations of the trust, and to take the
steps necessary to budget these funds in accordance with this directive.

I certify that
there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation
to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance,
otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which
payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
