RESOLUTION NO. 991311

 

Stating the support of the Council for the Longfellow Heights III housing project located at the northwest corner of 27th Street and Troost Avenue and directing the City Manager to explore alternatives for funding the capital needs of Longfellow Heights III, including in-district PIAC funds from the 2nd District.

 

WHEREAS, Longfellow Heights III is an approximate 82 unit housing development generally located at the northwest corner of 27th Street and Troost Avenue for low to moderate income persons; and

 

WHEREAS, Longfellow Heights III will complement and enhance the already constructed Longfellow Heights I and Longfellow Heights II projects which have provided much needed affordable and safe housing in the area; and

 

WHEREAS, the development of Longfellow Heights III will continue to provide safe, sanitary and affordable housing in the area for low to moderate income residents of the City; and

 

WHEREAS, the development of Longfellow Heights III will comply with the Kansas City FOCUS Plan by providing affordable housing for the citizens in the urban core; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Council hereby states its support for the development of the Longfellow Heights III housing project located at the northwest corner of 27th Street and Troost Avenue. The City Manager is further directed to explore alternatives for funding, particularly sources of funds from in-district PIAC funds from the 2nd District, the capital needs of Longfellow Heights III, including sidewalks, curb and gutter, and to report to Council when any sources of funds have been identified.
