RESOLUTION NO. 010248
Honoring
Jim Browns 50 years of employment with the City of Kansas City, Missouri.
WHEREAS,
Jim Brown, Engineering Technician II in the Public Works Department, is celebrating
his golden anniversary, having worked for the City for 50 years. Jim began work
on February 16, 1951 conducting traffic surveys throughout Kansas City; and
WHEREAS,
Jim was soon promoted and took over the task of traffic accident data analysis
whereby he compiles information from traffic accident reports to study and
improve hazardous streets in the City; and
WHEREAS,
Jim has seen numerous changes including numerous city managers, mayors and city
council members. He was working in City Hall before the installation of air
conditioning and rode elevators before they were automated. He has seen the
creation of departments as well as the elimination of departments; and
WHEREAS,
Jim is the number one source in the City for traffic accident histories and the
placement of the actual state line. His knowledge of the exact location of the
state line (the political boundary, not the road) gave him his strangest
request when Kansas City, Missouri homicide detectives called him to a murder
scene, the state line ran through the middle of a house and they wanted to
determine whether the body was in Missouri or Kansas; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE
IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That
the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate Jim Brown for his 50 years of
employment with the City of Kansas City; and
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the
Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Jim Brown
in token of the appreciation and respect of the Mayor and Council in
celebration of his Golden Anniversary.
