ORDINANCE NO. 980073

Authorizing a $247,634.00 contract with Wilson Plumbing Company for constructing storm drainage improvements from Ward Parkway Plaza to Jarboe Street; authorizing a $9,600.00 agreement with Larkin Associates Consulting Engineers, Inc., for engineering services in connection with the construction of 80th and Summit storm drainage improvements; authorizing the Director of Public Works to expend $339,898.00 in previously appropriated funds for the project; and appropriating $643.00 to the Youth Employment Fund.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the work of constructing storm drainage improvements from Ward Parkway Plaza to Jarboe Street, consisting of 92 linear feet of 12' x 6' rectangular concrete channel, 172 linear feet of 10' x 5' rectangular concrete channel, 62 linear feet of 10' x 4' rectangular concrete channel, rectangular concrete channel transition, 107 linear feet of 10' x 4' reinforced concrete box culvert, reinforced concrete foot bridge, 146.5 linear feet of RCP ranging in size from 15" to 24", 9 curb inlets, removal and replacement of 137 linear feet of local street pavement with concrete curbs and gutters, 2" water main replacement, fertilizing, sodding, and other miscellaneous work, all in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, Council District 4, Project No. 3385, is hereby provided for and authorized.

Section 2. That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to enter into and execute, on behalf of the City, a contract between Wilson Plumbing Company, a Missouri corporation, in the amount of $247,634.00, which contract is hereby approved and confirmed. A copy of the said contract is on file in the office of the Director of Public Works and is incorporated herein by reference.

Section 3. That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to enter into and execute, on behalf of the City, an agreement between Larkin Associates Consulting Engineers, Inc., and Kansas City, Missouri, relating to engineering services in connection with the construction of 80th and Summit storm drainage improvements not to exceed $9,600.00, which agreement is hereby approved and confirmed. The agreement shall be essentially in the form which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.

Section 4. That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to expend the sum of $339,898.00 from funds heretofore appropriated to Account No. 98-309-089-6400-T as and for consideration in the aforesaid contracts and for engineering and contingencies associated therewith.

Section 5. That the appropriation in the following account of the Capital Improvement Fund is hereby reduced by the following amount:

98-309-089-6400-T Storm Sewer Construction - CD4 $643.00

Section 6. That the sum of $643.00 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Capital Improvement Fund to the following account in the Capital Improvement Fund:

98-309-012-9089-B Transfer to Youth Employment Fund $643.00

Section 7. That the revenue in the following account of the Youth Employment Fund is hereby reestimated in the following additional amount:

98-244-089-9202 Transfer from Capital Improvement Fund $643.00

Section 8. That the sum of $643.00 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Youth Employment Fund to the following account in the Youth Employment Fund:

98-244-089-7004-T Quarter Percent for Youth Employment Fund $643.00

Section 9. That the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to transfer $643.00 from the Capital Improvement Fund to the Youth Employment Fund.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
