RESOLUTION NO. 190961

 

Observing November 18-24, 2019, as Global Entrepreneurship Week in Kansas City, Missouri, and the world’s largest celebration of entrepreneurs who pave the path of creativity and ingenuity in the workforce.

 

WHEREAS, thousands of events and competitions locally, nationwide and in 170 countries inspire millions everywhere to engage in entrepreneurial activity and connect to a network of collaborators, mentors and investors; and

 

WHEREAS, Global Entrepreneurship Week provides opportunities to locate and support entrepreneurs through events such as The Global Cleantech Open Ideas Competition, where participants are challenged to produce environmentally friendly technology ideas while collaborating with investors and CEO’s. The winning idea receives $100,000.00 in legal, marketing, and public relations support; and

 

WHEREAS, the initiative is supported by dozens of world leaders and a network of over 15,000 partner organizations; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation has played a vital role in the growth of Kansas City’s entrepreneurial roots emphasizing the importance of job creation and innovative practices, as well as creating programs that focus on Entrepreneurship, Advancing Innovation, Education, and Research and Policy; and

 

WHEREAS, organizations such as KCSourceLink, Interise and WeWork help aspiring startups and established businesses find the right business resources to start, scale or accelerate economic growth and prosperity; and

 

WHEREAS, from November 18-24, 2019, Kansas City will recognize the multitude of benefits entrepreneurs bring to our community; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby display their gratitude to Entrepreneurs in Kansas City, Missouri, and recognize Global Entrepreneurship Week, November 18-24, 2019; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to KCSourceLink, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, and Wendy Doyle with the KC Women’s Foundation, in token of the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for many years of service to our City and their best wishes for all the years to come.
