RESOLUTION NO. 130333

 

Recognizing recipient, Pat O’Neill of the John J. Sullivan Foundation Humanitarian Award.

WHEREAS, Pat O’Neill, Principal and COO of O’Neill Marketing and Event Management, was recognized April 18, 2013, with the John J. Sullivan, Jr. Foundation’s annual Humanitarian Award; and

WHEREAS, the John J. Sullivan Jr. Foundation Humanitarian Award is presented annually to an honoree who exemplifies John J. Sullivan’s legacy of ethics, values, integrity, generosity, and goodwill for this community and its people; and

 

WHEREAS, Pat known throughout Kansas City as a passionate leader for community and civic causes. Pat is a leader in Kansas City's Irish Community, serving as co-chair of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, founding board member of the Kansas City Irish Fest, co-founder of the St. Pat’s Senior Ball, former board member of the Kansas City Irish and Culture Centre and author of the “From the Bottom Up: The History of Irish in Kansas City;” and

 

WHEREAS, additionally Pat has served on the Advisory Board of the Little Sisters of the Poor, and on the Boards of Directors of the Heart America Shakespeare Festival, the Citizens Association, the City of Fountains Foundation, the Jackson County Historical Society and the KC Landmarks Commission. Pat has been at the foreground of numerous civic issue campaigns, including the renovation of the Liberty Memorial, the recent campaign to expand the Kansas City Zoo, renewal of Kansas City's Bus Tax and Jackson County's COMBAT program, and the bond issue to build the National WWI Museum;

 

WHEREAS, the legacy of John J. Sullivan and his foundation lives on in people like Pat O’Neill, to whom family is paramount and ethical values, integrity, generosity, and goodwill for the Kansas City community and its people are above all else; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize and congratulate Pat O’Neill on the occasion of his receiving the 2013 John J. Sullivan, Jr. Foundation Humanitarian Award; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Pat O’Neill, with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for his many years of dedication and service to this community.
