Appropriating $150,000.00 from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Fire Sales Tax Fund for the purchase of 40 self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), chairs for communication operation, and additional fleet equipment.


NEIGHBORHOODS AND PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE recommends "ADVANCE AND DO PASS, DEBATE"
Joe Pehlman and Chief Deputy Galvin, KCFD,gave a brief testimony that the passage of this ordinance will allow the purchase of 40 self contained breathing apparatus chairs for communication operation, and additional fleet equipment for emergency transportation.

Amending Chapter 54, Article IV, Chapter 54, Article V and Chapter 76, Article III, to strengthen ordinances regulating salvage yards, secondary metal recyclers and towing operations.


NEIGHBORHOODS AND PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE recommends "HOLD ON AGENDA (12/12/2018)"
 
 1. Rick Usher and Thomas Randolph will give a presentation on, "The Westport Public Safetyā€¯.
 
 Rick Usher, City Manager's Office and Thomas Randolph, Human Relations Department gave a brief update of the agreement between the City of Kansas City and the Westport CID; that developed a Civil Rights Public Accommodations Monitoring Training program for the AD HOC Group Against Crime. Updates also included; data collected related to turn away and/or weapons collected, and of any allegations of discrimination reported to the HRD office. Westport concluded the monitoring of the public on Oct. 31, 2018. An electronic version of the presentation is on file in the City Clerk's Office.
 
 2. There may be a general discussion regarding current Neighborhoods and Public Safety issues.
 
 3. Pursuant to the following subsections of Section 610.021 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri, there may be a closed session to discuss: (1) legal matters, litigation, or privileged communications with attorneys, pursuant to subsection 1; (2) real estate, pursuant to subsection 2; (3) personnel, pursuant to subsection 3 and 13; and/or (4) sealed bids or proposals, pursuant to subsection 12.
 
 The City Clerk`s Office now has equipment for the hearing impaired for use with every meeting. To check out the equipment please see the secretary for each committee. Be prepared to leave your Driver`s License or State issued Identification Card with the secretary and she will give you the equipment. Upon returning the equipment your license will be returned.
