| Adopting a scoring system for the purpose of ranking economic development projects and determining the level of incentives to be offered.
PLANNING, ZONING & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS" Katherine Carttar, City Planning and Developmrnt, Kerrie Tyndall, City Manager's Office gave the staff report on the Ordinance. Chairman Ford informed the Committee that his hope is to pass the Ordinance out of Committee without an Advance. There will also be a presentation at next week's Business Session regarding this topic.
The proposed scorecard improves the current process for evaluating economic development projects by:
¿ Providing a measurable and data-driven policy evaluation process for economic development projects
¿ Providing a method to compare projects
¿ Increasing transparency in the policy making process for developers
¿ Communicating a clear and concise purpose for the City’s economic development policy
¿ Establishing clear minimum eligibility criteria for the use of incentives
¿ Recognizing the need to evaluate housing projects using different criteria
