Accepting and approving a $96,250.00 amendment to a contract with Kansas City Free Health Clinic to provide additional dental care services to eligible clients in the Kansas City Transitional Grant Area who meet Ryan White Title I guidelines.

Dr. Archer, Health Department, explained that the ordinance would allow the acceptance of a contract amendment and addtional funding for the Kansas City Free Health Clinic. It would provide for dental care for clients meeting Ryan White Title I guidelines.

Accepting and approving a $132,500.00 contract amendment with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to provide funding for increased HIV case management services

Amending Chapter 70, Code of Ordinances, by repealing Section 70-850, Vision-reducing material applied to windshield or other windows, and in enacting in lieu thereof a new section of like number and subject matter for the purpose of establishing specifications for sun screening devices applied to motor vehicles; and repealing subsection (a) of Section 70-849, Windshields to be unobstructed; windshield wipers, and enacting in lieu thereof a new subsection of like letter and subject matter for the purpose of prohibiting any material on the windows that would impair the driver’s normal view of the road.

Accepting and approving a one year $325,000.00 contract amendment with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services that provides funding for the continued expansion of active surveillance through the addition of communicable disease liaison staff in local hospitals and to assess the ability of skilled public health professionals to improve the speed, comprehensive and effectiveness of the City’s communicable disease activities.


PUBLIC SAFETY AND NEIGHBORHOODS COMMITTEE recommends "ADVANCE AND DO PASS AS A COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE, DEBATE"
Health Department Staff testified that the ordinance would accept and approve a one year $325,000.00 contract amendment with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services that provides funding for the continued expansion of active surveillance through the addition of communicable disease liaison staff in local hospitals and to assess the ability of skilled public health professionals to improve the speed, comprehensive and effectiveness of the cities communicable disease activities.
 
 There will be the monthly Council District Crime Report presented by the Police Department. Hand-outs on file for this presentation. There will be discussion of replacement of KCI Police with KCPD as put forward in the current budget. There was discussion and an agreement to continue discussion allowing KCI police to give rebuttal next week. Consideration of Semi-Annual Docket Staff from the Neighborhood and Community Services Department will give a presentation regarding Neighborhood and Housing Department at 11:00 a.m. immediately following Public Safety Committee. There may be general discussion of current Public Safety and Neighborhoods Committee issues. There may be Closed Sessions to discuss a Real Estate Transaction pursuant to RSMo. 610.021(2) and a Legal Matter pursuant to RSMo. 610.021(1).
