Amending Chapter 64, Code of Ordinances, by repealing Section 64-8, Hauling, dirt, rock or similar materials; Section 64-118, Excavation permit fees; Section 64-426, Permit fees; and Section 70-39, Authority of director to close streets, sidewalks and other travelways; authority to establish emergency parking restrictions, and enacting in lieu thereof new sections of like designation and subject matter for the purpose of modifying the method the fees are adjusted, modifying the permit fees; and establishing an effective date.

Jeff Martin, testified that this ordinance would increase permit fees, which have not been raised since 2008 per ordinance 070529 and 070530. This rate increase is raising permit fees 11.4% to account for the CPI (Consumer Price Index) adjustments that have occurred since 2008 but have not been applied to the permit fees. We are also adjusting the excavation permit to adjust per CPI versus Produce Price Index as previously stated in ordinance 70529. This will take affect May 1, 2017. Permits will automatically be adjusted per CPI by budget ordinance starting FY18 per this ordinance.
