PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE recommends "HOLD ON AGENDA (6/4/2008)"
Jesse Sendejas, Law Department, and Nathan Perry, Neighborhood and Community Services, answered questions asked by the committee at the May 21, 2008 meeting. Ms. Sendejas explained that a special tax bill is actually two separate actions: a personal debt against the owner of the property and also a lien against the property. The lien portion went through the demolition lien waiver committee and it recommended that the lien be waived. If the lien is not waived it doesn't preclude the sale of the property. The City never had any contact with the insurance company. The property owner did not file a claim with the insurance company. Nathan Perry walked the committee through the time line of the demolition. Ms. Sendejas and Mr. Perry answered questions from the committee. The committee will requested staff submit copies of their reports to the committee for review. This ordinance and companion ordinance number 080520 will be held for one week.
