Directing the City Manager to identify a source to fund Twelfth Street Heritage Development Corporation in the amount of $50,000.00 to provide community services and economic development activities for the Third District.


PUBLIC SAFETY AND NEIGHBORHOODS COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS"
Councilwoman Sanders-Brooks explained that the ordinance would aide a organization that had worked with the city and the community for many years that had been underfunded but still was able to do good work and continues to do so. Twelfth Street Heritage is headed by a very capable young women Aisha Jones, who was present to testify. Ms. Jones gave a brief overview of the activities and work currently being done at 12th Street Heritage. Also present was Ron Hunt, community activist that support the work of 12th Street Heritage and Rodney Grant a staff member at 12th Street Heritage.

Authorizing the Director of Neighborhood and Community Services to enter into a one-year contract with Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc., in the amount of $460,791.00 to provide healthcare services to inmates at the Municipal Correctional Institution and authorizing the Director to exercise four options to renew without Council approval.


PUBLIC SAFETY AND NEIGHBORHOODS COMMITTEE recommends "ADVANCE AND DO PASS, DEBATE"
Mike Schumaker, NCS, explained that the ordinance would provide healthcare services for inmates at MCI. This is a collaboration with Metropolitan municipal and county governments to create a regional correctional system and reduce the common cost. It will allow and increase in medical services to inmates and lower cost.

Amending Chapter 2, Code of Ordinances, by repealing Section 2-85, Office of Emergency Management, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section of like number and subject matter dealing with the Office of Emergency Management.


PUBLIC SAFETY AND NEIGHBORHOODS COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS AS A COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE"
Rich Noll,testified that the ordinance would establish the changes for the Office of Emergency Management. The partners are in agreement with the changes.

 Tracie Cole, Justice Program Coordinator, will provide a presentation on the City's Aim4Peace program. Tracie McClendon-Cole, Justice Program Coordinator reviewed the roles and acheivements of the Aim4Peace Task Force. She outlined the goals and objectives and stated that the task force was on target and hope to really impact and lower crime. There may be general discussion of current Public Safety and Neighborhoods Committee issues. There may be Closed Sessions to discuss a Real Estate Transaction pursuant to RSMo. 610.021(2) and a Legal Matter pursuant to RSMo. 610.021(1).
