Authorizing the Director of Water Services Department to enter into a $5,631,724.94 contract with Foley Company for Contract No. 8636, Project No. 80000193, Renovation of Filter Gallery B (Section I Work); authorizing the Director of Water Services to expend $6,080,000.00 for construction of the project; authorizing the Director of Water Services to enter into a $1,410,400.00 contract with Black and Veatch Corporation for Contract No. 8699, Project No. 80000193, Renovation of Filter Gallery B (Section I Work) Construction Phase Services Phase II; authorizing the Director of Water Services to charge up to $741,006.35 for project management costs; authorizing the Director of Finance to return unexpended appropriations to the appropriate account; and recognizing an emergency.


TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS"
Bernardo Garcia, Water Services, was present to testify regarding the ordinance that authorizes a contract with Foley Company and Black and Vetch for renovations of Filter Gallery B. He said that these renovations would be the fifth of six such projects allowing for clean up of debris, disinfection, replacement of water drains, various values and concrete repair. The ordinance was passed but not advanced. Mr. Garcia stated that he thought that all the projects would be finished by the deadline.

Authorizing the Director of Water Services Department to enter into a $2,805,895.00 contract with Burns and McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. for Contract No. 995, Project No. 81000297, Fishing River WWTP Expansion Project Design – Phase II; authorizing the Director of Water Services to expend $2,905,895.00 for the project; authorizing the Director of Water Services to charge up to $649,669.00 for project management costs associated with this project; and authorizing the Director of Finance to return unexpended appropriations to the appropriate account.


TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS"
Bernardo Garcia, Water Services, explained that the ordinance would allow improvements to the waste water treatment plant that would include disinfection that meets the new MDNR guidelines. The project includes a green roof, recycled asphalt and run off into the existing lagoon. Burns and McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. was selected for the project and meet city requirements.

Estimating and appropriating $775,751.48 in the General Fund; authorizing the Director of General Services to enter into a $5,983,585.00 contract with Johnson Controls for energy conservation measures in various City buildings; authorizing the Director of General Services to expend up to $6,000,000.00 for the Energy Conservation Project #1 and authorizing the Director of Finance to return unexpended appropriations to the appropriate account.
