Authorizing the Director of the Convention and Entertainment Facilities Department to enter into a three (3) month agreement extension with Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services, LLC (Aramark) for food and beverage concessions services at the Convention and Entertainment Facilities to complete the RFP process and negotiate a new contract due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic at Convention and Entertainment Facilities.

Oscar McCaskey, Convention Center, testified on this ordinance. The City currently has a contract with Aramark to provide Food and Beverage Concession Services and Catering at the Convention and Entertainment Facilities. The current contract expires on June 1, 2020. A Request For Proposal (RFP) was submitted on January 23, 2020. Due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the department is requesting an additional three (3) months to complete the RFP process, negotiate a new contract, and prepare documents for City Council’s approval.

Estimating revenue and appropriating $176,396.31 in the Domestic Violence Grants Fund; authorizing the City Manager to accept a two year grant in the amount of $176,396.31 from the Missouri Department of Public Safety; designating requisitioning authority; and recognizing an accelerated effective date.

Council Member Robinson testified on this ordinance. This grant provides funding for one full time domestic violence prosecutor and two part-time domestic violence prosecutors who prosecute all domestic violence whose cases in Kansas City Municipal Court. This grant provides funding in the following amounts: $176,396.31 for the full time salary for a domestic violence prosecutor and for the hourly wage for two part-time domestic violence prosecutors over the two years of the grant. The City’s obligation of $68,245.40 in matching funds is supplied by the partial payment of the salary, benefits, and FICA for the full-time position; and the partial payment of the salary and FICA for the part-time position.

Reducing an appropriation in the amount of $1,040,000.00 in the Capital Improvements Fund; appropriating that amount to the Convention Center Garage account; authorizing a $537,000.00 Owner’s Representative Services Amendment No. 2 to Contract No. 07-AR1902 with CBC Real Estate Group, LLC related to the programming, design and reconstruction of the Auditorium Plaza Garage and Barney Allis Plaza Event Space; authorizing contract amendments; approving the proposed program for the project; providing for a construction trades training program; declaring the intent of the City to reimburse itself from the bond proceeds for certain expenditures; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

 The City Clerk`s Office now has equipment for the hearing impaired for use with every meeting. To check out the equipment please see the secretary for each committee. Be prepared to leave your Driver`s License or State issued Identification Card with the secretary and she will give you the equipment. Upon returning the equipment your license will be returned.
