Authorizing the Director of Health to enter into a $649,874.00 contract with Children’s Mercy Hospital to provide primary health care services for indigent residents in Kansas City, Missouri; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.


NEIGHBORHOODS AND PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS"
Dr. Sarah Martin of the Health Department testified that this Ordinance approves a contract with Children's Mercy Hospital to continue providing health care services to Kansas City's indigent residents and a considerable need for health care services for the uninsured and underinsured citizens. Amending Chapter 48, Nuisance, and Chapter 56, Property Maintenance, Code of Ordinances, by repealing Sections 48-83 and 56-547 and enacting in lieu thereof new sections of like number and subject matter modifying the provisions for the waiver of special tax bills.

Matthew Geliotti from the Law Department, Brian Engel of White Goss and Peter Hoffman of Legal Aid testified on behalf of this Ordinance this legislation follows suit with respect to land clearance for the Redevelopment Authority of Kansas City , Missouri (LCRA). Ordinance 120387 originally created the exemption process for the Homesteading Authority. Ordinance 130772 added Land Bank to the code provisions at issue.
