Estimating and appropriating $7,500.00 in the Governmental Grants Fund; accepting and approving a $7,500.00 award with Turn the Page KC to support an update of the 2017 School Discipline Equity Analysis; designating requisitioning authority; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.


NEIGHBORHOODS AND PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE recommends "DO PASS"
Dr. Sarah Martin and Mike English from the Kansas City Health Department gave a brief testimony. This ordinance will support staff time for collection and analysis of updated KCMO School discipline data and planning for a spring follow-up summit aimed at understanding progress in implementation of the Community Health Improvement Plan.

 Ordinance No. 170942 has been "Released".
 
 2. “Updates of Security” presented by Dr. Luis Cordoba, Major Marcus Harris, and Capt. Jeffrey Gilmore.
 
 Dr. Luis Cordoba, Major Marcus Harris and Captain Jeffrey Gilmore from the Kansas City Public School gave an update of Security within the public schools. The role of a security officer are: to ensure safety and security of students, staff and KCPS property – support safety drills throughout school year, gather and document incidents that occur with school property, foster, healthy, professional, and trusting relationships with the students, develop a trusting, friendly and professional relationship with staff, parents, and community. Further to adhere to administrative and board policies and procedures, to include department standard operating procedures. An electronic version of this presentation can be obtained from the City Clerk's Office.
 
 3. There may be a general discussion regarding current Neighborhoods and Public Safety issues.
 
 4. Pursuant to the following subsections of Section 610.021 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri, there may be a closed session to discuss: (1) legal matters, litigation, or privileged communications with attorneys, pursuant to subsection 1; (2) real estate, pursuant to subsection 2; (3) personnel, pursuant to subsection 3 and 13; and/or (4) sealed bids or proposals, pursuant to subsection 12.
 
 The City Clerk`s Office now has equipment for the hearing impaired for use with every meeting. To check out the equipment please see the secretary for each committee. Be prepared to leave your Driver`s License or State issued Identification Card with the secretary and she will give you the equipment. Upon returning the equipment your license will be returned.
