The City is already a recipient of $7.3 million in funding from HUD under the Neighborhood Stabilization Program 1 that was based on a funding formula determined by HUD. Round 2, however, is competitive. The program is designed assist communities that have suffered from foreclosures and abandonment. Program tools will include the purchase and redevelopment of foreclosed and abandoned homes and residential properties. Successful implementation and operation of the program will result in the reuse of many vacant and abandoned homes that resulted from foreclosure.
