COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 120430

 

Authorizing the Director of Conventions and Entertainment Facilities to execute an agreement with the Kansas City Convention and Visitors Association; appropriating $350,000.00 from the Convention and Tourism Fund for additional payments to the Kansas City Convention and Visitors Association to provide certain City services in connection with the 2012 Major League Baseball All Star Game to be held at the Kaufman Stadium in Kansas City in July 2012; appropriating $103,315.00 from the Convention and Tourism Fund for improvements to the City’s security infrastructure; and appropriating $75,000.00 from the Convention and Tourism Fund to the Convention and Entertainment Facilities Department for the sponsorship of KC Riverfest.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

  Section 1. That the Director of the Convention and Entertainment Facilities Department is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with the Kansas City Convention and Visitors Association in the amount of $350,000.00 for the promotion of tourism, convention business, and many attractions, facilities, and enterprises within Kansas City during the 2012 Major League Baseball All Star Game and related events.

Section 2. That $425,000.00 is appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Convention and Tourism Fund to the following accounts:

13-2360-672000-B Convention and Visitors Association $350,000.00

13-2360-101112-B Conference Support 75,000.00

TOTAL $425,000.00

Section 3. That $103,315.00 is appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Convention and Tourism Fund to the following account in the Convention and Tourism Fund:

13-2360-101180-B All Star Game 2012 $103,315.00

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
