RESOLUTION NO. 020718

 

Expressing the Councils opposition to the Low Income Housing Tax Credits for the Unity Ridge Project.

 

WHEREAS, the owner of a 23.15 acre tract of land on the west side of U.S. Highway 350 approximately one quarter mile north of Bannister Road has requested an amendment to its Community Unit Project to build a 320 unit apartment complex; and

 

WHEREAS, because of the type of housing development that has occurred in the area surrounding this project in the last ten years, and because of the capacity of the roads in the area, the Council believes that a dense apartment complex is not an appropriate use for this particular tract and may harm the area and its future development; and

 

WHEREAS, the developer of this project intends to or has applied for 4% Low Income Housing Tax Credits from the Missouri Housing Development Commission for this project; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Council hereby expresses its opposition to the developers application for Low Income Housing Tax Credits from the Missouri Housing Development Commission for the Unity Ridge Project and requests the Commission to deny the developers application.
