Approving an amendment to the Central Industrial District
Area Plan, by modifying the Land Use Plan and Map for an area of approximately
0.1 acres generally located at the southeast corner of W. 11th Street and
Liberty Street to recommend mixed uses instead of non-rail industry.
WHEREAS, on May 27, 1976, the City Council by
Resolution No. 46558 adopted the Central Industrial District Area Plan as a
guide for development and redevelopment of that area bounded by the Missouri
River on the north, by the Missouri/Kansas state line on the west, by 27th
Street on the south and by Allen Street and the bluffs on the east; and
WHEREAS, said Central Industrial District Area
Plan was amended on June 18, 1982, through the adoption of Resolution No.
53893; and
WHEREAS, after further review by the City
Development Department it has been deemed appropriate to amend the Central
Industrial District Area Plan as it affects that area of approximately 0.1
acres generally located at the southeast corner of W. 11th Street and Liberty
Street (1417 W. 11th Street) by modifying the Proposed Land Use Plan and Map
for such area from non-rail industry to mixed uses; and
WHEREAS, public notice of a hearing before the
City Plan Commission was published on September 22, 2003; and
WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission considered
such amendment to the Proposed Land Use Plan and Map on October 7, 2003; and
WHEREAS, after all interested persons were given
an opportunity to present testimony, the City Plan Commission did on October 7,
2003, recommend approval of the proposed amendment to the Central Industrial
District Area Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section A. That the third amendment to the
Central Industrial District Area Plan is hereby approved as to the Proposed
Land Use Plan and Map for that area of approximately 0.1 acres generally
located at the southeast corner of W. 11th Street and Liberty Street (1417 W. 11th
Street) by modifying the recommended land uses for the area from non-rail
industry to mixed uses. A copy of the amendment to the Land Use Plan and Map of
the Central Industrial District Area Plan is attached hereto as Exhibit A and
incorporated herein by reference.
Section B. That the Central Industrial District
Area Plan is consistent and complies with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan, adopted
on October 30, 1997, by Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 971268, and is
adopted as a supplement to the FOCUS Kansas City Plan.
Section C. That the Council finds and declares
that before taking any action on the proposed amendment hereinabove, all public
notices and hearings required by law have been given and had.
