RESOLUTION NO. 061239

 

Directing the City Manager to identify $60,000.00 within the current budget with which to fund a contract with Mustard Seeds Unlimited, Inc. for the purpose of providing a placement option for out-of-school suspensions or expulsions for students in grades 4 through 12 in the Kansas City, North Kansas City, and Hickman Mills School Districts.

 

WHEREAS, Mustard Seeds Unlimited provides educational services in the Kansas City metropolitan area; and

 

WHEREAS, Mustard Seeds Unlimited has established the SuccessConnect Intervention Learning Center to assist schools with managing inappropriate behavior in challenging students and offering an alternative approach to traditional out of school disciplinary options; and

 

WHEREAS, the COMBAT program has agreed to match any City funding of Mustard Seeds Unlimited and its SuccessConnect Intervention Learning Center program; and

 

WHEREAS, Mustard Seeds Unlimited will agree to operate its SuccessConnect Intervention Learning Center program to serve Kansas City, North Kansas City, and Hickman Mills School Districts; NOW, THEREFORE

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the City Manager is directed to identify $60,000.00 within the current fiscal year budget for the purpose of contracting with Mustard Seeds Unlimited, Inc. to provide SuccessConnect Intervention Learning Center services to the Kansas City, North Kansas City, and Hickman Mills School Districts.
