RESOLUTION NO. 051300

 

Approving the Town Fork Creek Neighborhood Plan as a guide for the future development and redevelopment of the area generally bounded by Brush Creek on the north, Prospect Avenue on the west, 63rd Street on the south and Swope Parkway/Cleveland Avenue on the east. (634-S)

 

WHEREAS, the stakeholders of the Town Fork Creek Neighborhood in conjunction with the City Development Department have conducted a study delineating the characteristics of the Town Fork Creek Neighborhood; and

 

WHEREAS, the Town Fork Creek Neighborhood Plan has incorporated the policies of the FOCUS Kansas City Plan and other appropriate planning documents; and

 

WHEREAS, the policies within the Town Fork Creek Neighborhood Plan, which will serve as the plan of record for this area, are consistent with the policies of the FOCUS Kansas City Plan and any future amendments to the Town Fork Creek Neighborhood Plan should be guided by and comply with the policy direction set forth in the FOCUS Kansas City Plan, adopted by Resolution No. 971268 in 1997; and

 

WHEREAS, as a result of said study, the City Development Department has proposed a framework for the orderly development within the Town Fork Creek Neighborhood; and

 

WHEREAS, said framework provides a guide for future development and redevelopment of the area, for specific and general policies to guide future decisions, and for identification of public and private needs throughout the community and possible solutions to those needs; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Development Department has incorporated its findings in the Town Fork Creek Neighborhood Plan; and

 

WHEREAS, the Town Fork Creek Neighborhood Plan was unanimously approved by the City Plan Commission on October 4, 2005; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section A. That the Town Fork Creek Neighborhood Plan is hereby adopted as a guide for the future development and redevelopment for that area generally bounded by Brush Creek on the north, Prospect Avenue on the west, 63rd Street on the south and Swope Parkway/Cleveland Avenue on the east. A copy of the Town Fork Creek Neighborhood Plan is attached hereto, in substantial form, and is hereby approved.


Section B. That the Town Fork Creek Neighborhood Plan is consistent and complies with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan, adopted on October 30, 1997, by Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 971268, and is adopted as a supplement to the FOCUS Kansas City Plan.

 

Section C. That the Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed Town Fork Creek Neighborhood Plan hereinabove, all public notices have been given and hearings have been had as required by law.
