RESOLUTION NO. 060020

 

Expressing sympathy on the death of Robert W. (Bob) Jackson.

 

WHEREAS, Bob Jackson died on December 26, 2005; and

 

WHEREAS, Bob Jackson was born on May 31, 1922, graduated Lincoln High School and completed various courses at Rockhurst University; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1946, Bob Jackson started a dairy-marketing and delivery business distributorship called Roberts Dairy resulting in the creation of self-employment and jobs for African-Americans which was later purchased by Country Club Dairy; and

 

WHEREAS, Bob Jackson was a long-time real estate agent, deeply involved with the African-American Realtist real estate organization and was one of several principals responsible for the development of Kansas Citys first African-American housing subdivision known as Sheraton Estates; and

 

WHEREAS, in July 2005, Bob Jackson retired from the Housing Authority of Kansas City, as a Section 8 housing inspector; and

 

WHEREAS, Bob Jackson was a true trailblazer and consummate sales person and will be sorely missed by his family, friends and the community; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby expresses sympathy on the death of Robert W. (Bob) Jackson; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be presented to his family in token of the sadness felt by the Mayor and Council on this occasion.
