RESOLUTION NO. 010704
Congratulating
Dr. Bernard Taylor upon his selection as Superintendent of the Kansas City,
Missouri School District.
WHEREAS,
Dr. Bernard Taylor joined the School District in August, 2000, as an Executive Director
for School Leadership where he supervised the principals of 26 elementary
schools, as well as King Middle School and Southeast High School; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Bernard Taylor has an extensive background in education. He graduated from
the University of Pittsburgh in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary
Education, completed his Masters in Public Administration from the University
of Pittsburgh in 1983; and
WHEREAS,
after receiving his Masters degree, Dr. Taylor became a full-time substitute
teacher at Peabody and Oliver High Schools in Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Taylor received his Doctorate in Education from the University of
Pittsburgh, School of Education in 1995; and
WHEREAS,
before coming to Kansas City, Dr. Taylor worked six years as principal of West
Side Traditional Academy and Well Technology Institute in Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Taylor says Everyone must be focused on the students of the Kansas City,
Missouri School District. Teachers and students are working hard, they are
deserving of our support; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE
IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That
the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate Dr. Bernard Taylor on his
selection as Superintendent of the Kansas City, Missouri School District; and
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the
Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Dr. Bernard
Taylor in token of the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for his commitment
to education in our community.
