RESOLUTION NO. 120007

 

Honoring Gladys M. Bishop on her retirement after 33 years and 10 months of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, Gladys began her career at the Municipal Court as a cashier in 1978; and

 

WHEREAS, Gladys was promoted to Accounting Clerk II/Senior Accounting Clerk in the Accounts Payable/Finance Division in the Water Services Department - a position that she held until her retirement; and

 

WHEREAS, Gladys is the mother of 2 daughters, Karren Schiele and LaShawna Allen, both graduates of the University of Missouri (MU), and is also the grandmother of 5 grandchildren, Jordyn, a freshman at MU, MaKyla, Gerald IV, Aliyah, and Tamia; and

 

WHEREAS, Gladys is known as a very knowledgeable, helpful, loyal, dependable, and greatly valued as part of the Water Services Department; and

 

WHEREAS, Gladys has skillfully contributed her talent and skills to the City of Kansas City, Missouri and will be sorely missed; and

 

WHEREAS, Gladys looks forward to her retirement in order to spend time with her grandkids, engage in  volunteer work, travel, recreational reading, and to experience new adventures; and

 

WHEREAS, January 1, 2012, will mark the last day of Gladys' career with the City of Kansas City, Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY;

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Ms. Gladys M. Bishop, on the occasion of her retirement from City service, the heartiest best wishes for her future, together with appreciation for her 33 years and 10 months of dedicated service to the citizens of Kansas City; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Ms. Gladys M. Bishop in token of the Mayor and Council’s respect and high regard and their best wishes for the long and happy retirement which she so richly deserves.
